New Routes Expand Connectivity from Skopje and Ohrid Airports in 2025

Six new international routes from Skopje and Ohrid in 2025

North Macedonia will add six new international flights from Skopje and Ohrid in 2025, broadening travel options for both local citizens and tourists. Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski announced the new destinations, including Dubai, Barcelona, Lyon, Stuttgart, Basel, and Istanbul, during a press conference on Friday.

Four routes will operate from Skopje: Dubai twice weekly starting 30 March, Barcelona twice weekly from 30 June, and Lyon and Stuttgart each three times weekly from 30 June. Ohrid airport will host flights to Basel twice weekly and to Istanbul four times weekly, beginning on 30 March.

The state will subsidize these flights with EUR 12 per arriving passenger at Ohrid and EUR 9 at Skopje, with expectations of drawing 200,000 additional passengers. Minister Nikoloski emphasized the significance of this expansion for Macedonian citizens and tourism. Wizz Air will operate flights to Stuttgart, Basel, Barcelona, and Lyon, Flydubai will manage the Dubai route, and Turkish Airlines will operate the Istanbul connection.
