Serbia’s Inclusive Business Model

At the UN's Regional Forum in Geneva, a Serbian social enterprise showcases how inclusive employment models can drive both social good and business growth

At the recent UN Regional Forum on Sustainable Development in Geneva, the spotlight turned to a groundbreaking Serbian company championing inclusive employment for people with disabilities.

Predrag Bubalo, director of SDPS d.o.o., a social rehabilitation and employment enterprise, shared the company’s remarkable journey since its 2015 founding with just seven employees.

Now, with 50 staff—80% of whom are individuals with disabilities—SDPS has proven that inclusivity is not just a moral obligation but a sustainable business model.

Bubalo highlighted Serbia’s alignment with EU disability standards but stressed the lack of financial and institutional support for companies driving inclusive work practices.

While SDPS thrives, employing flexible working hours and tailored support for employees, he called for broader adoption of these practices across the country.

As Serbia’s model gains international attention, Bubalo urged more businesses to partner with inclusivity-driven enterprises.

By doing so, they can tap into both financial benefits and social responsibility, creating a more equitable workforce for all.
