Dubrovnik Hosts Second Edition of Prestigious E1 Series Championship

The world’s first all-electric powerboat racing championship returned to Dubrovnik this weekend, bringing together elite sport, sustainability and global star power on Croatia’s Adriatic coast.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković attended the second edition of the E1 Dubrovnik GP, often described as the “Formula 1 of the sea.” The event combines high-speed electric racing with a focus on innovation, environmental sustainability and the modernization of the maritime sector, while promoting cleaner technologies for the future of marine transport. Dubrovnik hosted the championship on June 12 and 13 after a successful debut on the E1 calendar last year.

This year’s race once again attracted major international celebrities, including LeBron James, Rafael Nadal and Kyle Kuzma, whose presence generated significant global attention for both the championship and Dubrovnik.

The E1 Series features teams owned by prominent figures from the worlds of sport and entertainment, helping expand the event’s reach to audiences across more than 140 countries.

The government supported the project through the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, viewing the event as an opportunity to further strengthen the country’s international tourism profile. Organizers have emphasized that the championship not only delivers a world-class sporting spectacle but also showcases the potential of sustainable maritime technologies and coastal development.
