Slovenia Condemns Russian Attack on Kyiv and Reaffirms Support for Ukraine

At the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Slovenian Minister Tomaž Kajzer strongly condemned Russia’s latest overnight attack on Kyiv, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and calling the strike “completely unacceptable.”

Kajzer stressed that such acts of violence must not be allowed to continue without consequences and added that Russia must be held accountable for its actions. He also reaffirmed Slovenia’s strong commitment to supporting Ukraine and to strengthening coordinated international efforts in response to Russian aggression.

The Foreign and European Affairs Minister stated that the new Slovenian government strongly supports EU enlargement, not only to the Western Balkans but also to Ukraine and Moldova.

He welcomed the announced opening of the first negotiation cluster for both countries, describing it as an important step forward in the accession process.

Kajzer also called for increased pressure on Russia, including the swift adoption of the European Union’s 21st sanctions package, and emphasized the importance of strengthening global outreach on accountability. He reiterated Slovenia’s continued support for Ukraine and the need for unity among EU member states.
