The message was delivered at the AGRA International Agricultural and Food Fair, where the focus was placed on farmers and their role in maintaining Slovenia’s rural areas, food security and agricultural production.
The government said it intends to create conditions that would allow farmers to earn a decent living from their work, while encouraging young people to see agriculture as a profession offering long-term opportunities and prospects.
Agriculture remains an important part of Slovenia’s rural economy and landscape, with farmers also playing a key role in maintaining cultivated land and preserving the character of the countryside. The government highlighted their knowledge, work and perseverance as essential to the country’s food security. The AGRA fair, one of the region’s major agricultural events, brings together farmers, food producers, agricultural companies and industry experts, providing a platform for presenting new technologies, products and approaches to sustainable agriculture.
The government said the future of Slovenia’s countryside depends on the future of its farmers, making support for agricultural incomes and the renewal of the farming population an important part of its agenda.
