According to the latest tourism data, Croatia welcomed more visitors during the first months of 2026, while overnight stays also recorded steady growth. The figures suggest that demand remains strong despite growing competition from other Mediterranean destinations and continued economic uncertainty across parts of Europe.
Tourism officials attribute the positive results to Croatia’s combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage, modern tourism infrastructure and strong connectivity with key European markets. Coastal destinations along the Adriatic, as well as city-break locations such as Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik, continue to attract travellers from Germany, Austria, Slovenia and other major source markets.
The encouraging start to the season has strengthened expectations for another successful tourism year, with industry representatives pointing to strong booking trends for the summer months. Tourism remains one of Croatia’s most important economic sectors, contributing significantly to employment, investment and overall economic growth.
Officials have also highlighted ongoing efforts to promote sustainable tourism and extend visitor activity beyond the peak summer period, with the aim of encouraging year-round travel and reducing seasonal pressure on the country’s most popular destinations.
