Albania is celebrating a remarkable surge in tourism, with over 11.7 million foreign visitors in 2024—an increase of 15.2% compared to the previous year. This growth is a testament to the country’s evolving appeal, with a notable rise in arrivals from neighboring regional countries as well as key markets in Western Europe, including Italy, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.
In addition to this, Albania has successfully expanded its reach to more distant markets in Asia and the Americas, further solidifying its place as a growing global destination. The country’s tourism minister, Mirela Kumbaro, highlighted that the increase in tourist numbers is also reflected in the country’s improved accommodation standards, which have driven up revenue. For the first nine months of 2024, tourism revenue reached an impressive €3.8 billion.
Prime Minister Edi Rama echoed this optimism, calling 2024 a landmark year for Albania’s tourism sector. He emphasized that the country’s growth is no longer just a fleeting trend, but a sustained upward trajectory, offering a diverse range of experiences that promise a vibrant future for the tourism industry.
