Albania is preparing to host one of the largest live music events ever staged in the country as Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, brings his 2026 world tour to a purpose-built venue outside Tirana on 11 July. The concert marks one of the most ambitious entertainment productions ever organised in the Western Balkans, with fans travelling from dozens of countries to attend.
The show is part of Ye’s latest stadium tour, which has drawn large crowds around the world thanks to its cinematic production and unconventional stage design. Rather than relying on a traditional concert setup, the performance centres around a giant globe-like structure that transforms the stage into an immersive visual experience, making it one of the most distinctive productions currently touring internationally.
Despite years of controversy surrounding antisemitic remarks and public statements that led to cancelled performances in several European countries, Ye has continued to attract a devoted global audience. In recent months, he has publicly expressed regret for many of his previous comments and has sought to move the conversation back towards his music and artistic work.
The Albanian concert has also become the subject of political debate after Prime Minister Edi Rama confirmed that the government allocated €4 million to support the event. Rama argued that the decision was made to protect Albania’s international reputation after around 25,000 visitors from approximately 80 countries had already purchased tickets, adding that the concert is expected to deliver a significant economic boost through tourism and hospitality spending. The funding has nevertheless drawn criticism from opposition groups and protesters, who question both the use of public money and Ye’s controversial public record.
