Croatia’s Ministry of Physical Planning has unveiled a draft Construction Act aimed at modernising the country’s building procedures.
The law would simplify the approval process for family homes, cutting back on bureaucratic delays that have long frustrated citizens. At the same time, it proposes stricter inspections to tackle the widespread issue of illegal construction.
With housing demand rising and affordability an ongoing challenge, the government hopes to balance efficiency with regulation.
If adopted, the new framework could speed up construction timelines and reshape how Croatians build and own homes — a cornerstone of family life in the country.
