Albania Blocks TikTok

Government responds to parental concerns with nationwide ban

The Albanian government has announced a nationwide ban on the Chinese social media platform TikTok, Education Minister Ogerta Manastirliu confirmed today.

The decision comes in response to growing concerns over the platform’s influence, with more than 80% of parents reportedly supporting restrictions on social media, according to City News Albania.

The move reflects broader anxieties over the effects of social media on young people and follows similar debates across Europe. By taking decisive action, Albania aims to address parental concerns and set a precedent for regulating digital platforms in the region.
