In a significant diplomatic meeting, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul and his Albanian counterpart Igli Hasani explored avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation in security, advanced technologies, and the broader economy.
The talks, held in Seoul, underscored both nations’ commitment to bolstering their partnership amid growing global challenges.
Minister Cho emphasized the potential for strengthened relations with Albania across various sectors, notably cyber security, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies. As South Korea seeks to deepen its collaboration with European nations in the arms industry and nuclear sectors, Cho highlighted the critical need for joint efforts to address cross-border security threats.
Albanian Foreign Minister Hasani echoed the importance of bilateral ties, particularly in the economic and IT sectors, and expressed optimism for increased business-to-business exchanges. He also pointed to the potential for stronger cultural and tourism links between the two countries.
Cho further underscored the necessity of international solidarity in addressing military collaborations between North Korea and Russia, which contravene United Nations Security Council resolutions prohibiting arms transfers to North Korea. Hasani affirmed Albania’s commitment to global denuclearization efforts on the Korean Peninsula.
This visit marks the first official trip by an Albanian foreign minister to South Korea since 2011, signaling a renewed vigor in diplomatic relations between the two nations.
