This long-term plan, developed by the Ministry of Spatial Planning, focuses on improving energy efficiency across the country’s building stock, which is set to bring financial savings, enhance comfort, and stimulate construction activity.
The strategy targets a reduction in final energy consumption in buildings from 1,728,500 tons of oil equivalent (2020) to 1,257,300 tons by 2050, along with a substantial cut in CO2 emissions from 7,937,000 tons to 2,075,000 tons. These goals are aligned with the broader objective of achieving a decarbonized, energy-efficient building environment by mid-century.
The strategy now awaits approval by the Parliament. Once enacted, it is expected to deliver long-term benefits for both private and public budgets, while promoting a more sustainable construction industry.
This comprehensive plan is a critical part of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s efforts to align with global climate goals, ensuring that the country’s infrastructure evolves to meet the challenges of the future.
