Fritula Fever: Croatia’s First Dedicated Doughnut Shop Opens in Trogir

Sweet news from Croatia!

Croatia’s culinary scene just got a delightful new addition with the grand opening of Balîna, the nation’s first establishment solely dedicated to fritule, traditional Dalmatian doughnuts.

Located at Šubićeva 24 in the historic coastal town of Trogir, this sweet venture is the brainchild of Ana Slade-Šilović and Marina Martinis.

Their mission? To elevate the humble fritule from a seasonal treat to a year-round indulgence, all while upholding authenticity and quality.

Balîna offers a unique personalised experience, allowing customers to craft their ideal fritule with a tempting array of fillings, drizzles, and toppings – think white chocolate, pistachio, tiramisu, and fresh fruit.

For the less decisive, 20 pre-designed combinations await.

Ana and Marina stress their commitment to “high-quality ingredients” and “freshly prepared dough daily, without preservatives, artificial colours, or additives.”

Beyond the doughnuts, Balîna also serves coffee, matcha, and locally-made juices, aiming to provide a taste of tradition amidst Trogir’s charming streets.

Opened on 12 July 2025, Balîna, with its blend of urban design and Dalmatian heritage, is already creating a buzz among locals and tourists alike.
