M:tel Holds Strong as Montenegro’s Mobile Market Leader

With over 573,000 users, M:tel continues to dominate the mobile market, holding a 41.5% share, despite a slight decline in the total number of subscribers

In January, Montenegro’s mobile phone market saw 1.38 million subscribers—a 2.26% drop from December, yet a notable 5.84% increase year-on-year, according to the latest report from the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP).

This marks a penetration rate of 221.84%, illustrating the country’s high mobile connectivity.

M:tel remains the leading provider, with 573,900 users, or 41.48% of the market. Its dominance is particularly evident in the prepay sector, where it claims nearly 50% of all subscribers.

Crnogorski Telekom follows closely with 477,210 users, while One holds 332,340, accounting for 34.49% and 24.02% of the market share, respectively.

In terms of postpaid users, Crnogorski Telekom leads with 39.65%, closely trailed by M:tel at 35.91%.

Despite the minor decline in overall subscribers, M:tel’s ability to retain a substantial share solidifies its position as the market leader in Montenegro.
