Abazović Honored in New York City for His Contributions

The former Montenegrin prime minister was recognized by members of the New York City Council for his public service, democratic advocacy and international engagement.

Former Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazović has been awarded a proclamation by members of the New York City Council during a ceremony held at City Hall. The recognition was presented in acknowledgment of his contributions to public life, promotion of democratic values, international cooperation and efforts to strengthen ties between communities.

Following the event, Abazović described the recognition as a special honor and shared news of the award on social media. According to the text of the proclamation, the document highlights his public service and engagement on issues of regional and international importance.

Proclamations issued by members of the New York City Council are a longstanding form of ceremonial recognition granted to individuals and organizations for notable achievements and contributions to society. While they do not confer an official governmental status, they represent a public acknowledgment by elected city representatives.

The recognition adds to a series of international appearances and engagements by Abazović since leaving office, as he continues to participate in discussions related to democracy, governance and regional cooperation.
