In a major boost for regional connectivity, Wizz Air is re-establishing its base at Tuzla International Airport after a two-year hiatus, launching eight new direct routes to key European cities including Berlin, Paris, and Brussels.
With two aircraft stationed in Tuzla, the low-cost carrier’s return—heralded by the June relaunch of its Vienna service—signals a strategic effort to link Bosnia’s northeast with Western Europe.
Backed by a €600,000 subsidy scheme from Tuzla Canton’s government and €750,000 earmarked for airport infrastructure upgrades, the move is designed to reverse declining passenger numbers and economic strain.
The initiative, led in part by the regional tourism board, prioritises diaspora needs while aiming to attract up to one million travellers over the next four years.
More than a flight schedule, this is a shot at economic revival—one boarding pass at a time.
