Sarajevo has introduced 40 state-of-the-art electric vehicles, comprising 25 trolleybuses and 15 trams, each equipped with advanced electric motors manufactured in Tuzla.
This €50 million project, with trolleybuses produced by Belarusian firm BKM and trams by Swiss manufacturer Stadler, marks a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility in the region.
Central to this initiative are the Tuzla-made electric motors, a product of TraktionsSysteme Austria (TSA). Johannes Mensdorff Pouilly, TSA’s Head of Sales for the railway sector, described the development as a milestone: “This is the first time our motors have powered railway vehicles in Bosnia and Herzegovina.” Operating in Tuzla since 2008, TSA’s factory has become a cornerstone of the region’s green mobility push.
With this project, Sarajevo not only modernizes its transport network but also strengthens its commitment to environmental sustainability and regional economic growth.
