Switzerland Launches CHF 58 Million Cooperation Program With Albania

New three year phase focuses on governance, economic growth and infrastructure

Switzerland and Albania have launched a new cooperation program for 2026 to 2028 worth CHF 58 million, aimed at strengthening democratic governance, economic development and infrastructure services. The new phase marks more than three decades of bilateral partnership between the two countries.

Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali said the new chapter will focus on maintaining strong political dialogue and expanding cooperation in innovation, cybersecurity, tourism and vocational education.

Representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs stressed that Switzerland remains committed to supporting Albania’s inclusive and sustainable development, macroeconomic stability and alignment with European Union standards.

The program builds on the 2022 to 2025 cooperation framework and covers three priority areas inclusive governance, economic development and employment, and urban development and climate change. A key feature will be institutional partnerships between Albanian authorities and Swiss federal institutions, including cooperation in statistics, metrology, intellectual property and environmental expertise. Switzerland has contributed more than 500 million Swiss francs to Albania over the past 30 years, making it one of the country’s leading bilateral development partners.
