Serbia and China Strengthen Economic Ties

Serbia and China forge new agreements at a high-profile forum, with trade booming and investments surging.

On March 20th, nearly 200 business leaders gathered in Belgrade for a crucial Business Forum hosted by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The event, focused on strengthening economic ties between Serbia and China, was officially inaugurated by Marko Čadež, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, alongside Ren Hongbin, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

Also present were Li Ming, the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, and Serbia’s Minister of Economy, Adrijana Mesarović, underscoring the high-level commitment to deepening bilateral relations.

Discussions spanned multiple sectors including construction, energy, and agriculture.

A standout moment was the signing of a Cooperation Agreement in arbitration between Predrag Petrović, Secretary-General of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, and Sje Changqing, Vice President of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.

Trade data reveals significant growth: Serbia’s exports to China rose 53.7% in 2024, with total trade reaching $7.5 billion.

With China now Serbia’s largest foreign investor, this forum further solidified the nations’ strategic economic partnership.
