Construction has begun on the largest solar power plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located on the sunny plateau of Komanjsko Brdo near the town of Stolac.
Valued at approximately €100 million, the project is expected to be completed within 12 months and will generate 200 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually for the next 30 years.
Led by Aurora Solar d.o.o.—a company based in BiH with support from Hungarian and domestic partners—and built by the international engineering firm NORINCO International, this project marks a significant investment in the country’s renewable energy sector.
The initiative aligns with BiH’s commitment to energy transition and environmental sustainability.
Local communities stand to benefit through increased revenue from concession fees and municipal taxes, with estimated income ranging between three and four million convertible marks.
As one of the most ambitious solar ventures in the region, the project highlights Bosnia and Herzegovina’s potential as a hub for green innovation and international cooperation.
