Nihad Uk, Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Resigns

Nihad Uk steps down following protests over tragic deaths and government accountability

The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, announced his resignation after widespread protests by young citizens following the tragic death of a young man and the critical condition of a girl. Uk emphasized that the voices of the youth and the public are more important than his political position, stating that his decision reflects a commitment to responsibility and integrity.

During his tenure, Uk highlighted the importance of youth engagement and the need for authorities to listen to citizens’ concerns.

He worked tirelessly at the site of the tragedy, in hospitals, and within government offices, aiming to restore trust in the system and ensure transparency and accountability.

Uk also addressed political opponents, urging them to avoid spreading falsehoods or using the tragedy for political gain.
