Croatia and Egypt Forge New Partnership

Croatia and Egypt strengthen bilateral relations with a landmark port agreement, positioning Rijeka as a key gateway for trade in the Mediterranean region

Croatia and Egypt are taking their partnership to new heights following the signing of a strategic agreement between the ports of Rijeka and Alexandria.

The deal, sealed in Cairo by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly, aims to boost trade and transport links, positioning Rijeka as a central hub for Egypt’s access to Central and Southeastern Europe.

With the European Union being Egypt’s largest trading partner, this agreement enhances Croatia’s standing in the Mediterranean trade route.

The deal extends beyond logistics, with Croatian companies, including HS Produkt and Elektroprojekt, looking to expand their presence in Egypt’s growing energy and infrastructure sectors.

Moreover, Croatian businesses are keen to collaborate on educational technologies, while Egypt continues to be a key partner in Croatia’s construction industry.

This cooperation promises further growth, marked by increased migration flows, with over 6,500 work permits issued to Egyptian citizens last year.
