Croatia Introduces New Taxi Law Changes for 2026

Regulatory overhaul aims to modernise the sector and improve service standards.

Croatia is set to implement new changes to its taxi regulations in 2026, targeting improved oversight, fair competition, and higher service quality across the industry. The updated framework is expected to better regulate both traditional taxi operators and ride-hailing platforms, reflecting the rapid evolution of urban mobility.

Authorities say the reforms will introduce clearer rules on licensing, pricing transparency, and operational standards, while also addressing challenges related to market saturation and uneven enforcement.

The goal is to create a more balanced environment in which consumers benefit from reliable and safe services, and providers operate under consistent conditions.

The move comes as demand for taxi and ride-hailing services continues to grow, particularly in major cities and tourist destinations. By updating its regulatory approach, Croatia aims to align with broader European trends in mobility while ensuring that the sector remains competitive, sustainable, and responsive to changing consumer needs.
