Kotor–Dubrovnik Ferry Embraces Sustainability

A voyage of friendship and sustainable tourism sets sail on the Adriatic

In a bold step to deepen regional ties and boost sustainable travel, Montenegro and Croatia have launched a new maritime route linking the historic towns of Kotor and Dubrovnik.

Montenegro’s Minister of Maritime Affairs, Filip Radulović, hailed the initiative as a milestone in strengthening both diplomatic and economic relations between the two Adriatic neighbours.

Running until 30 September, the ferry service promises not only to ease travel for locals and tourists alike but also to alleviate pressure on congested coastal roads—offering a greener, more scenic alternative.

The Kotor–Dubrovnik route joins three other international lines—Budva–Dubrovnik, Bar–Bari, and Bar–Ancona—established in less than two years under the current government.

Radulović emphasised these routes as part of a broader maritime strategy positioning Montenegro as a pivotal Adriatic hub.

He said that it was more than just transport — it was a step towards a more connected, sustainable future
