Kaja Kallas Reinforces EU Ties in Balkans Visit

In a pivotal tour, Kaja Kallas reaffirms the EU’s strategic commitment to the Western Balkans.

In a decisive diplomatic tour of the Western Balkans, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas reaffirmed Brussels’ enduring commitment to the region’s European path.

Her second visit to the area underscored the strategic importance the EU places on enlargement.

In Serbia, Kallas held talks with President Aleksandar Vučić, newly appointed Prime Minister Đuro Macut, and other key figures, including opposition MPs and civil society representatives.

She also engaged directly with students, signalling a grassroots approach to dialogue.

In Kosovo*, she met with political leaders and NGOs, visited the EU’s Rule of Law Mission (EULEX), and spoke with KFOR Commander Enrico Barduani, highlighting the EU’s security role on the ground.

In North Macedonia, Kallas conferred with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and launched the first EU–North Macedonia Security and Defence Dialogue.

She also toured the Balkan Medical Task Force’s HQ and held vibrant discussions with youth and professionals—building bridges across generations and borders
