Croatia will launch a new online customs service on 1 November 2026, allowing travellers to declare goods subject to import duties and pay the applicable charges before reaching the border.
The service, known as eODPP (eObračun carinskih davanja u putničkom prometu), will enable passengers to check whether goods in their personal luggage exceed duty-free allowances, submit the required declarations and pay calculated charges online. Declarations can be completed up to 120 hours, or five days, before the planned arrival at an international Croatian border crossing.
The application will be available on computers, smartphones and tablets, without requiring users to register.
However, completing the online declaration will not eliminate the need to present both the goods and the declaration to a customs officer upon arrival. Officers will verify the information before finalising the import procedure, and discrepancies may lead to additional checks.
The service will apply to travellers entering the European Union through Croatian road, rail, air and maritime border crossings. It is particularly relevant to passengers arriving from non-EU countries with purchases or other goods exceeding applicable allowances. Travellers should note that the system does not replace existing EU customs regulations or separate restrictions concerning products such as food, tobacco and alcohol.
