Montenegro’s Ferries Race for Repairs

As Montenegro’s vital ferry fleet gears up for essential repairs, the clock ticks down to the summer season, with hopes high that remodelling delays won’t disrupt tourism.

With the summer tourist season fast approaching, Morsko Dobro is scrambling to ensure its ferry fleet is ready to carry thousands of visitors across the scenic Bay of Kotor.

However, three key vessels—Grbalj, Teodo, and Perast—are all scheduled for repairs, and as the clock ticks down, obstacles continue to mount.

According to Captain Aleksandar Crvenko, head of the ferry line, issues ranging from delayed tendering processes to fuel shortages have hindered progress.

He mentioned that the tight schedules in the shipyards had been a significant challenge, particularly with the summer season approaching.

Crvenko remains optimistic that, despite these setbacks, repairs will be completed on time, with Grbalj expected to enter dry dock by late May or early June.

However, the timing is critical—should any further delays occur, the fleet’s ability to meet the demand of the peak tourist months could be compromised.

As Montenegro prepares for another busy summer season, the pressure is mounting on Morsko Dobro to overcome these hurdles and ensure smooth sailing ahead.
