Montenegro Sees Surge in Foreign Yachts

Montenegro's picturesque coastline continues to attract international visitors, with nearly 4,700 foreign vessels docking in its territorial waters last year

In 2024, Montenegro’s crystal-clear waters played host to a record 4.69 thousand foreign vessels, according to new data from the country’s statistical office, Monstat.

These vessels, mostly for recreation, sport, and leisure, brought a diverse array of tourists to the Adriatic coast.

The majority of the ships—43.2%—were sailing yachts, followed by motor yachts at 39.8%, with the remaining 17% comprising other types of vessels.

The influx of pleasure cruisers resulted in 22.77 thousand visitors, primarily from the UK (9.4%), Germany (7.4%), and the United States (7.3%).

Tourists also arrived from neighboring countries, such as Croatia and Italy.

Interestingly, while most boats arrived by sea, over 600 were transported by land.

With its combination of scenic beauty and favourable maritime conditions, Montenegro remains a prime destination for maritime enthusiasts seeking both adventure and relaxation in the heart of the Mediterranean.
