Jadrolinija Launches Fast Catamaran Route Between Zadar and Ancona

The new seasonal service further strengthens transport links between Croatia and Italy across the Adriatic.

Croatian state ferry operator Jadrolinija has introduced a new high-speed catamaran route connecting Zadar with Ancona, expanding travel options between Croatia and Italy during the summer season. The service is expected to improve connectivity for both tourists and local residents while supporting growing demand for fast cross-Adriatic travel.

The route will operate three times a week until the end of the summer season, significantly reducing travel times compared to conventional ferry services. The new connection complements Jadrolinija’s existing international routes and further enhances Zadar’s role as one of Croatia’s key transport and tourism hubs.

Officials say the new line is part of broader efforts to strengthen maritime links across the Adriatic, facilitate tourism and encourage greater mobility between the two neighboring countries. Italy remains one of Croatia’s most important tourism and economic partners, with thousands of passengers traveling between the two countries every year.

The launch of the Zadar–Ancona service comes amid continued investment in Croatia’s maritime infrastructure and international transport network, reflecting increasing demand for efficient, sustainable and high-speed passenger connections across the Adriatic.
