New Belgrade Residents Receive Grants for Energy Efficiency Upgrades

The initiative aims to reduce household energy consumption while improving living conditions and supporting Serbia’s green transition.

A total of 284 residents of New Belgrade have received contracts for subsidies to improve the energy efficiency of their homes, as part of a government-supported programme promoting sustainable housing and lower energy consumption.

The grants will help homeowners finance measures such as replacing windows and doors, improving thermal insulation, upgrading heating systems and installing more energy-efficient equipment. Officials say these investments will reduce energy use, lower household utility bills and contribute to improved environmental protection.

The programme is implemented through cooperation between the Ministry of Mining and Energy, local governments and participating municipalities, with co-financing provided by both the state and citizens. Similar subsidy schemes have been introduced across Serbia in recent years as part of broader efforts to increase energy efficiency in the residential sector.

Authorities say improving the energy performance of homes remains one of the country’s key priorities, as it helps reduce overall energy demand, strengthens energy security and supports Serbia’s transition toward a more sustainable and environmentally friendly economy.
