Montenegro’s Highway Link to Open by 2030

Construction of the second section of Montenegro’s motorway is on track for completion in 2030, promising smoother travel and economic growth

Montenegro’s ambitious motorway project is set to reach another major milestone with the completion of the second section, stretching from Mateševo to Andrijevica, expected to open by 2030.

Milan Ljiljanić, the director of Monteput, confirmed that the process of land expropriation is progressing smoothly, with no delays anticipated.

The tender for construction was announced last week, and bids are to be submitted by the end of April.

The five-year project will include everything from the design phase to the final stretch of road, which will significantly improve connectivity in the region.

Notably, 70% of land expropriation in Kolašin has already been completed.

In a move to modernize toll collection, Montenegro aims to increase the adoption of electronic payments, targeting 50% user participation by the end of the year.

Video tolling systems are also in the pipeline, reducing waiting times at toll booths and enhancing the travel experience for motorists.
