Montenegro’s €74,000 Salary Stands Out in November Payrolls

While the average salary in Montenegro barely exceeds €990, one individual in the tech sector took home a remarkable €74,000 gross in November

In November, Montenegro’s payroll data revealed a stark contrast between the highest earners and the broader workforce.

According to the Tax Administration, the top gross salary reached an impressive €74,039, or €54,500 net.

This substantial income was earned by an employee in the wholesale trade of computers, computer equipment, and software—industries benefiting from the global demand for technology.

The hospitality sector also played a significant role in this income disparity, with four out of the top five highest-paying positions coming from this industry.

The second-highest gross salary amounted to €45,286, or about €33,500 net, with other top earners closely following.

This dramatic income divide underscores the growing imbalance in Montenegro’s economic landscape.

While the national average salary in November stood at a modest €993, it’s evident that certain sectors are thriving far beyond the reach of the average worker, sparking concerns over the widening gap between the country’s wealthiest and the rest of the population.
