Sarajevo International Airport Sets Passenger Record in 2024

Sarajevo Airport sees record-breaking growth in 2024 with new routes boosting connectivity and passenger numbers by 34%

Sarajevo International Airport achieved a new milestone in 2024, serving 1,821,762 passengers—a remarkable 34% increase compared to 2023.

The airport also recorded a historic number of flight operations, with 16,836 flights, marking a 21% rise from the previous year. The growth was driven by the introduction of numerous routes to strategic destinations, significantly enhancing Sarajevo’s connectivity with Europe and the world.

Notably, Ryanair launched direct flights from Sarajevo for the first time, connecting the city to London, Brussels, Milan, Gothenburg, Memmingen, and Thessaloniki, opening new tourism and business opportunities for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Wizz Air followed suit in October 2024 with its long-anticipated route to Rome, while other airlines expanded their networks, linking Sarajevo to cities such as Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Warsaw, Abu Dhabi, Antalya, and Izmir.

Looking ahead, new routes to Berlin, Hanover, Geneva, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and other key destinations are planned for the next two years, solidifying Sarajevo’s position as a growing hub for regional and international travel.
