Texas to Build World’s First 3D-Printed Hotel

Texas is set to construct the world’s first hotel using 3D printing technology on the outskirts of Marfa, as part of a 60-acre expansion of the existing El Cosmico hotel

Alongside the hotel, the project will include 18 residential homes.

The first two units, featuring walls 3.7 metres high, are currently under construction. One will be a three-bed suite, while the other is a standard hotel room. The curved beige walls are being printed using the ICON Vulcan, a 14.2-metre-wide, 4.7-metre-high 3D printer weighing 4.75 tonnes.

The El Cosmico expansion is expected to be completed by 2026, with nightly rates at the 3D-printed hotel ranging from $200 to $450.
