Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cost of living continues its upward trend, with consumer prices in May 2025 rising 3.7% compared to the same month last year, according to new data from the Agency for Statistics.
The biggest pressure on households comes from food and non-alcoholic beverages, which soared by 9.9% year-on-year — underscoring the growing strain on everyday essentials.
Prices for alcohol and tobacco rose by 4%, while health services and hospitality also saw significant hikes of 6.4% and 6.2%, respectively. Even cultural and recreational services weren’t spared, climbing 4.4%. Month-on-month inflation stood at 0.2%, with notable increases again in food and home maintenance.
Yet, not all sectors contributed to the rise. Clothing and footwear prices dropped 8.2% annually, and transport costs slid 6.4%, offering modest relief to consumers.
The figures paint a mixed picture — one where rising grocery bills are eroding household budgets, even as deflation in some sectors softens the overall blow.
