HeroLabs Wins Slovenian Startup Of 2026

Slovenian agritech company HeroLabs has been named Startup of the Year 2026 for its innovative MooHero smart collar, a technology designed to help farmers monitor the health and reproductive cycles of cattle.

MooHero uses smart sensors to track cows’ well-being and detect heat cycles, enabling farmers to identify health issues earlier and make faster, more informed decisions. The system aims to improve breeding outcomes, increase milk production and reduce the time required for herd management. HeroLabs is also developing GrazeHero, a complementary solution that allows farmers to remotely manage grazing herds through smart collars and a mobile base station, which is currently being tested on selected farms.

The company was selected from five finalists, which included Flux Performance, ParakeetAI, Realtracing and The World Game.

A seven-member jury assessed candidates based on market validation, investment potential, team capabilities and prospects for international growth. The award was presented for the 19th time by the Start:up Slovenia initiative and its partners.

Accepting the award, HeroLabs CEO and co-founder Urban Rotnik said the recognition would provide additional momentum as the company expands into foreign markets. Presenting the award, Nataša Pirc Musar highlighted entrepreneurship as a key driver of Slovenia’s development, particularly when built on innovation, perseverance and social responsibility.
