North Macedonia: Inflation Drops Slightly, Food and Drinks Keep Getting More Expensive

In North Macedonia, overall inflation showed a slight decrease in October, yet households continued to feel the pressure from rising prices of essential goods

According to the State Statistical Office, inflation dropped by 0.2% compared to September, largely due to lower costs in the transportation sector (down 6.1%), as well as minor decreases in furniture, household maintenance, and education and culture expenses.

Despite the overall decline, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages — the most essential items for daily life — increased by 0.3%, while alcohol, tobacco, clothing, footwear, and housing also became more expensive.

Compared to October last year, the cost of living in North Macedonia rose by 4.5%, and retail prices increased by 2.8%, highlighting ongoing challenges for households in managing everyday expenses.
