North Macedonia Hosts Global Forum on Sustainable Energy

Skopje Declaration highlights fair and resilient energy transition

North Macedonia hosted the 14th International Energy Forum for Sustainable Development, bringing together around 500 representatives from 70 countries. The forum emphasized that energy resilience is now both an economic and security issue, with the signing of the Skopje Declaration marking a commitment to a fairer and more sustainable energy transition.

Minister of Energy, Sanja Božinovska, stressed that diversification and cross-border cooperation, including interconnectors with Serbia and Greece, are key to building resilient systems.

She highlighted the role of technology and artificial intelligence in predicting consumption and optimizing energy investments.

UN representatives echoed the importance of sustainable energy, noting that the transition must be just and inclusive. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski underlined that North Macedonia is demonstrating that even a small country can have a major impact on global energy strategy, with renewable energy investments supporting both independence and economic freedom.
