Chinese EV Pioneer XPeng Eyes Croatia

XPeng’s entry into Croatia marks another bold step in China’s growing influence on Europe’s electric vehicle market

In a strategic move signalling its growing European ambitions, Chinese electric vehicle innovator XPeng is set to debut in Croatia by Q3 2025, as part of an exclusive distribution deal with AutoWallis Caetano—a joint venture between Hungary’s AutoWallis and Portugal’s Salvador Caetano Group.

Initially launching with three premium models—the flagship G9 SUV, sleek G6 coupé SUV, and the sporty P7 sedan—XPeng brings its hallmark smart tech, including the Xmart OS and semi-autonomous driving features, to a market eager for EV innovation.

Headquartered in Guangzhou, XPeng doubled its global sales to 400,000 vehicles in 2024 and shows no sign of slowing.

Yet, despite the EU’s looming tariff hike on Chinese EVs, the company’s Vice Chairman Brian Gu remains unfazed.

He stated that their plan for Europe was long-term, adding that XPeng intended to localise production in the region and navigate the challenges posed by new regulations.

With its cutting-edge design, AI-driven personalisation, and an increasingly solid foothold in Europe, he suggested that XPeng was not merely entering new markets but actively redefining them.
