Astra AI, the Slovenian startup transforming how students learn, has been crowned Startup of the Year 2025 by Start:Up Slovenia — and for good reason.
Born from a series of simple math explainer videos in 2013, the platform has since evolved into a full-fledged AI tutor, now used by tens of thousands of Slovenian pupils.
Founded by economist and maths enthusiast Andrej P. Škraba, Astra AI blends personalised learning with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence.
Together with podcasting figure Klemen Selakovič and tech lead Tjaž Silovšek, the team has built a platform that offers tutoring in maths, physics, chemistry, English and German, powered by over 50 billion AI tokens monthly.
With teenagers as its core audience, Astra leans heavily on social media to scale — already boasting more than 170,000 users.
As Slovenia bets on digital innovation, Astra AI is proving that a local passion project can become a global educational game-changer.
