Madrid–Zagreb Flights Continue

Near-full flights keep Madrid–Zagreb link flying well into autumn

In a move that underscores the resurgent appetite for European travel, Spain’s flag carrier Iberia has announced it will prolong its seasonal service between Madrid and Zagreb until 29 November—over a month beyond its original end date of 25 October.

The extension reflects an unexpectedly high demand for the route, which was reinstated on 5 April after a hiatus.

Iberia will continue to operate twice weekly—on Wednesdays and Saturdays—using its reliable Airbus A320 aircraft.

This development comes as Croatia Airlines prepares to launch its own seasonal link between the two capitals this July, setting the stage for healthy competition in a growing market.

Iberia’s confidence is backed by strong performance figures: the airline carried 54,908 passengers between Madrid and Zagreb in 2024 alone, with an average load factor of 89%—a clear indicator of the route’s popularity and resilience.

As travellers seek out culturally rich yet less trodden paths, the Madrid–Zagreb connection is fast becoming more than just a summer fling.
