Croatia Airlines Welcomes First Airbus A220-300, Marking Major Fleet Renewal

Croatia Airlines, the nation's flag carrier, celebrated a significant milestone on Tuesday as it welcomed its first new Airbus A220-300 aircraft to Zagreb

This marks the commencement of the largest fleet renewal project in the company’s 35-year history, valued at approximately €500 million.

The Airbus A220, which boasts a capacity of 149 seats, arrived from the factory in Mirabel, Canada, covering 7,500 kilometres to reach Zagreb. The journey took 11 hours, including a technical stop in Copenhagen for refuelling. During the welcoming ceremony, it was noted that the plane flew at an average altitude of 12,000 meters.

Valued at around €38 million, the new Airbus A220, registered as 9A-CAE and named Zagreb, is set to conduct its inaugural commercial flight next week on the domestic Zagreb-Split route. Its first international service will be from Zagreb to Frankfurt. Following these initial flights, the aircraft will be gradually introduced on other commercial routes.

This new generation Airbus A220, with a seating capacity ranging from 100 to 150, represents a significant step forward for Croatia Airlines as it embarks on this extensive fleet renewal program.
