Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) will connect its inaugural solar park, “Petka,” to the national power grid by the first quarter of 2025, according to Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy. During a visit to the site in Kostolac, the minister emphasized the project’s role in transforming the country’s energy sector.
Set on a repurposed mining landfill, the “Petka” solar park covers 11.6 hectares and will deliver a maximum installed capacity of 9.75 MW, producing an estimated 15.6 GWh of electricity annually. This milestone comes as part of EPS’s broader renewable energy strategy, which also includes the launch of its first wind farm next year.
Đedović Handanović highlighted an even more ambitious undertaking: a 1,000 MW solar project paired with 200 MW of battery storage. “This initiative will significantly reshape the energy production portfolio of our company,” she said.
EPS General Director Dušan Živković underscored the importance of these projects in modernizing the utility and aligning Serbia’s energy infrastructure with global sustainability trends.
