India’s Passport Makes Historic Leap in 2025 Rankings

Adria watchers take note: travel trends are shifting globally

India’s passport has recorded its biggest-ever rise on the Henley Passport Index, moving up eight places to reach the 77th position in 2025. Indian citizens now enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 countries, the highest number ever for India.

This development not only reflects stronger international mobility for Indians but could influence tourism and business travel flows across emerging markets—including those in the Adria region, where Indian investment and tourism interest have been growing steadily.

As global travel patterns evolve, Adria countries may look to streamline access and build deeper bilateral ties with high-mobility nations like India.
