Plenković and Modi discuss trade growth, AI cooperation and Croatia’s role in India-Europe connectivity.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković began his official visit to India in New Delhi with talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on strengthening bilateral political, economic, and trade relations. The leaders noted a 10% growth in trade last year and highlighted the potential for further expansion, with India seen as a major opportunity for the Croatian economy.

Plenković also participated in the AI Impact Summit, stressing the importance of inclusive technological progress and the need for regulatory frameworks to keep pace with innovation.

Croatian IT firms, including the country’s first unicorn Infobip, are already active in India, underscoring opportunities for cooperation in the digital sector.

Connectivity and logistics were also discussed, with Plenković highlighting Croatia’s strategic role in India’s planned economic corridor to Europe, including investments in the Port of Rijeka. The talks additionally covered the war in Ukraine, with Plenković reaffirming Croatia’s support for Ukraine while noting India’s commitment to peace efforts.
