Air Montenegro and Turkish Airlines Launch Codeshare Partnership

The partnership links Montenegro’s national carrier with one of the world’s largest airline networks, opening new global connections via Istanbul

Air Montenegro, national airline of Montenegro, Turkish Airlines, flag carrier of Turkiye, have signed a codeshare agreement aimed at significantly improving Montenegro’s international air connectivity by linking the country’s national carrier with one of the world’s largest global airline networks.

Under the partnership, Turkish Airlines will place its flight code on Air Montenegro-operated services between Istanbul and Podgorica and Istanbul and Tivat, enabling smoother transfers via Istanbul, one of the world’s most important aviation hubs. At the same time, Air Montenegro will place its code on selected Turkish Airlines flights, initially including services to Dubai and Baku, opening new long-haul and regional travel options for passengers from Montenegro.

Beyond the first phase, the agreement lays the groundwork for further network expansion. Through Istanbul, Montenegrin travellers gain access to Turkish Airlines’ extensive route map spanning Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Americas, while inbound passengers benefit from easier access to Montenegro’s key tourism and business destinations.

For Air Montenegro, this is its first major codeshare partnership and a strategic step towards deeper integration into global aviation flows. For Turkish Airlines, the agreement strengthens its presence in Southeast Europe and supports growing travel demand between Türkiye, the Adriatic region and beyond.

Technical integration between the two carriers is currently underway, with ticket sales under the new codeshare expected to begin soon. Once fully implemented, passengers will benefit from coordinated schedules, single-ticket bookings and simplified transfers.

Bottom line: fewer barriers, more destinations, and a stronger role for Montenegro in regional and global air traffic — without overpromising, this is a smart and timely move.
