Serbia Signs Two Key Agreements to Boost Waste Management

New contracts aim to modernize regional centers and improve efficiency in line with EU standards.

Serbia’s Environment Minister Sara Pavkov signed two significant agreements to enhance waste management across the country, aligning operations with the highest European standards. The first contract covers the construction of three transfer stations and a recycling yard at the Regional Center Kalenić-Ub, while the second provides specialized equipment for the Regional Center “Srem–Mačva” in Sremska Mitrovica.

The projects are part of a broader plan to establish seven regional centers for solid waste management, serving a total of 42 local municipalities and around 1.3 million residents.

The new infrastructure and equipment, including loaders, bulldozers, and mini-loaders, are expected to significantly improve operational efficiency and service coverage.

Pavkov emphasized that modernization and expansion of these centers will ensure better waste handling for nearly 280,000 citizens in the immediate regions, reinforcing Serbia’s commitment to sustainable and efficient environmental practices.
