Luka Koper Signs €47m Expansion Deal

Port strengthens role as Adriatic’s automotive hub

Slovenia’s port operator Luka Koper has signed a €46.7 million contract to expand its vehicle storage garage, adding capacity for 11,665 cars. Construction will begin this year, with completion targeted for spring 2028.

The deal signals Koper’s determination to maintain its status as the Adriatic’s premier automotive gateway, handling exports and imports for brands across Central Europe. Vehicle logistics already make up a large share of the port’s turnover.

As EU automakers push towards electrification, the investment positions Luka Koper as a critical node in future supply chains. It also underlines how ports in the Adria region are racing to capture value from shifting trade flows.
