BYD Drives Into Croatia

The Chinese EV giant’s arrival in Croatia signals a new wave of competition in the electric vehicle market, with fresh models and aggressive pricing set to shake up the scene

In a move set to shake up Croatia’s rapidly growing electric vehicle market, Chinese automotive powerhouse BYD (Build Your Dreams) has officially entered the fray, opening its first showroom in Zagreb on April 23rd.

The new salon, located on Savska Street, takes over the former Tesla showroom, positioning the brand at the heart of the city’s automotive pulse.

BYD, which has already seen significant success across Europe, will offer an array of electric saloons and SUVs, further intensifying competition in a market already gaining traction with brands like MG and Dongfeng.

The company’s expansion marks a pivotal moment in the growing shift toward electric mobility, joining rivals in offering cleaner, sustainable transportation solutions to Croatian consumers.

BYD’s entry is not just about cars. The company, renowned for its innovation in BEVs, PHEVs, and electric buses, has also established itself as a dominant force in the global automotive market.

Its meteoric rise in China, where it overtook Volkswagen as the best-selling brand in 2023, positions BYD as a formidable challenger to established European and American EV players.

Croatia, and indeed the wider region, will undoubtedly feel the impact as the electric vehicle revolution accelerates.
