Zagreb To Build New Sava Bridge And Expand Tram Network

The project aims to ease congestion and strengthen public transport links across the Croatian capital.

The City of Zagreb has unveiled plans for a new bridge over the Sava River, alongside an expansion of the tram network, as part of a broader effort to modernize urban infrastructure by 2028. The bridge is expected to improve connectivity between different parts of the city, particularly easing traffic pressure on existing crossings.

In parallel, authorities plan to extend tram lines to better serve growing residential and business zones, reinforcing public transport as a key pillar of urban mobility.

The expansion is designed to reduce reliance on cars while improving accessibility and efficiency for daily commuters.

City officials emphasize that the combined investment in road and rail infrastructure will play a crucial role in supporting Zagreb’s long-term development, aligning with sustainability goals and the need for a more integrated transport system.
